Lena Wilson To me Matt Jones has captured in this song the struggle of becoming - you will become something - and the wistful savoring of hurt, questioning, shaking the head and diving into the dark. One of my favorite songs.

Timothy Monger This heartbreaker is easily one of Matt Jones's best songs. Simple and effective.

about

It was one of those fast movers, and seemed to match the winter well. This is a demo, and will probably be recorded in a studio at some point. But it suited the season so well, I had to throw it out here. Illustration by Zak Smith.

lyrics

On the trembling lips of age
15 years have gone
I sing the same
While the words have stopped their rumbling
I'd prefer you forgot my name.
And let me walk alone
Let me swallow whole
All that children whisper when they fall in love
Dragging father's dream through a sea of rye and gasoline
And mother smiles most all the time
But I think I hurt her when
I heard her scream
"Our boy is coming back"
"Our boy is coming home"
"Our boy is wasted on a magazine"
Chasing boyhood kings
While dodging wild pendulum swings
All the darker angels remind me
That I am destined for the darkest things
So don't forget my name
And don't forget my voice
Don't forget the golden boy who loved to sing
I played a bit too hard but i just want to back out
I'd love to look the part but I just want to back out

His music has been known to suffer from colitis. The Reconstruction is his own assemblage, and sometimes, disassemblage. The core: Colette Alexander: cello, and Misty Lyn: vox. ... more
